Mango

This large shrub grows up to 7 feet (2.1 meters) tall and lives for around 25 years. It is susceptible to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has dozens of slender, straight stems covered in thick, cracked, brown-green bark, and the wood inside is black with white speckles.

The branches trail down across the ground that and are covered with small amounts of tiny, stiff, pointed, leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are dark grey and orange, delicate and soft.

In mid-summer it produces dozens of small, hazel blossoms with cylindrical shaped petals. They detach easily and have the faintest scent that smells like mango.

In mid-autumn spherical fruits ripen. The rough gentle yellow skin is tough and edible when cooked; it is sweet, and the soft dark grey flesh is bitter and salty and powdery. The brown seeds are large and are dotted around on the skin of the fruit.
