Crimson Fruit Tree

This average-sized fruit tree grows up to 13 feet (4.0 meters) tall and lives for up to 10 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 26 years old. It is very resistant to disease but is susceptible to destructive insect infestation.

It has a very thick, curved trunk covered in thick, waxy, dark green bark, and inside, the flexible wood is silver.

The small handful of branches trail down to the ground and are covered with large amounts of large, perforated leaves with jagged edges. The leaves themselves are red on the edges and muted red at the center.

In early spring, it produces handfuls of small, olive blossoms with 5 circular shaped petals. They fall easily and have a delicate scent that smells like mango.

In early summer it produces small, broad, flat fruit. The hairy caramel skin is peel-able and inedible, and the soft cyan flesh is savoury and oily. The dark brown seeds are small and are bunched at the bottom of the fruit.

The roots are shallow and grow straight down, and overall the tree is rigid and weak, and breaks apart easily.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together densely, with patches of undergrowth between them.
