Aquamarine

This short fruit tree grows up to 7 feet (2.1 meters) tall and lives for up to 20 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 35 years old. It is very resistant to destructive insect infestation but susceptible to disease.

It has a flexible, straight trunk covered in delicate, knobbly, dark gray bark, and inside, the flexible wood is gray.

The small handful of branches are very long and thick and are covered with copious amounts of large, fan-like leaves with ripped edges. The leaves themselves are solid aquamarine or black, with turquoise splotches.

In early spring, it produces thousands of large, lilac blossoms with perforated petals. They fall easily and have an overpowering scent that smells like a man.

In late autumn it produces , pleated fruit. The rubbery bronze skin is delicate and inedible, and the crunchy slate flesh is bitter and oily. The hazel seeds are large and are located in the centre of the fruit.

The roots form a tightly packed ball, and overall the tree is rigid and weak, and breaks apart easily.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together densely, with the space between them filled with thick undergrowth.
