This moss green moss is commonly found blanketing tiny areas In damp forests, In bogs, and In marshes.
It is modest-sized, growing up to 5 inches (13 cm) tall. It forms in extensive patches, and is slightly resilient; it is very difficult to kill.
When mature, emerald cylindrical capsules grow at the end of short, lime green sporophytes, eventually opening up during the late autumn to release thousands of spores; it does not cause any allergic reactions.

Several parts of the moss have medicinal properties.
Once on fire, it burns very quickly.
