Succulent type: Caudiciform (Stores water in the thickened base of its stem)

This short caudiciform grows up to 10 feet (3.0 meters) tall. The sickle shaped stem is yellow-green, and is dotted with small lime spines. It has a straight, narrow, gentle green trunk atop a wide web of rough, exposed roots. The branches are slender and pink-red and trail down to the ground.

The serrated-edged, fan-like leaves are solid azure with dull blue lines. They are resistant, and easily come away when pulled.

It is very slow growing, taking 22 years to reach maturity. Once mature, a single flower with cyan petals on the lower layer and violet petals decorated with beige dots on the inner layer. The central disk is pastel purple grows at the top, reappearing every year. The flower head is made up of 9 petals in raised layers. It has a delicate scent that smells like coconut.

The caudiciform's skin is tough, the deep red flesh is smooth, and the purple sap is thin.

It is suitable for creating flexible, durable textiles
Several parts of the shrub have medicinal properties.
A particular bird species likes to nest in it.
