Red Wispy Lily

This huge flower grows up to 7.2 feet (2.2 meters) tall. Its red stem is wispy, and the tiny, gray leaves are oblong with tattered edges. The leaves grow in pairs along the length of the stem.

Each stem splits 3 to 5 times; a single giant flower grows at the end of each split. The flowers are 21 cm (8.3 inches) wide, with petals that are washed-out blue at the sides and dark brown at the center. The flower head is made up of 8 petals in raised layers. They are very delicate.

It has a weak scent that smells like warm milk, and it has lots of pollen. It is a self-pollinator and is ignored by most insect species.
