Copperleaf

Shrub type: Coniferous (Grows along the ground or other low surfaces.)

This short shrub grows up to 1 foot (30.5 cm) tall and lives for around 64 years. It is very resistant to destructive insect infestation but susceptible to disease.

It has several knobbly, wonky stems covered in fine, rough, copper-coloured bark, and the wood inside is dark brown.

The branches are short and slender with thousands of twigs that and are covered with thick bunches of large, fan-like, leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are a shade of yellow that gradient shifts to black at the top, resistant and sticky.

It produces several small, aquamarine flowers with sickle shaped petals with a bell-shaped floral cup. They are hardy and have a strong scent that smells like new carpet. In mid-summer it forms medium-sizedgold berries.

The sap is turquoise.
It is suitable for use as a construction material
It is often home to a particular bird species.
