Crimson Succulent

Succulent type: Leaf succulent (Stores water in its leaves)

This enormous leaf succulent grows up to 145 feet (44.2 meters) tall. The needle-like stem is emerald, and is covered in brittle crimson spines. The finger-like leaves are found in cream, slate and lilac varieties. Small bunches of them grow on wide, yellow branches that are short stubs. The leaves are rigid, and detach easily.

It is steady-growing, taking 2 years to reach maturity. Once mature, a handful of flowers, with intense red petals and a red central disk, grow at the top, reappearing once every 10 years. The flower head is shaped like a tube with 33 widely spaced, narrow petals. It has a weak scent that smells like musk.

The leaf succulent's skin is thin, the blue flesh is rubbery, and the caramel sap is thin.

All parts of the cactus are edible.
It is suitable for creating tough, hard-wearing textiles
