Burgundy Moss

This burgundy moss is commonly found blanketing medium-sized areas On rotten logs, In marshes, and In heathlands.
It is short, growing up to 3 inches (8 cm) tall. It forms in thin clumps and they are exceptionally hardy, and is slightly rigid.
When mature, emerald oblong capsules grow at the end of short, lime green sporophytes, eventually opening up during the mid-summer to release dozens of spores.
