Copperfruit

This short fruit tree grows up to 7 feet (2.1 meters) tall and lives for up to 20 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 33 years old. It is very susceptible to disease and insect infestation.

It has a flexible, angular trunk covered in silky, copper-coloured bark, and inside, the medium-dense wood is white.

The small bunches of branches are short and thin and are covered with small bunches of large, circular leaves with serrated edges. The leaves themselves are a shade of brown that gradient shifts to washed-out green at the top.

In early spring, it produces dozens of small, bronze blossoms with many layers of petals. They detach easily and have a delicate scent that smells like bleach.

In early winter it produces large, slender, 3 pointed fruit. The hairy muted yellow skin is peel-able and sweet and sour, and the soft cream flesh is salty and juicy. The orange seed is small and sits at the top of the fruit.

The roots are shallow and grow straight down, and overall the tree is sturdy, flexible, and difficult to uproot or break.

Forests of this species feature trees spaced far apart, with the space between them filled with thick undergrowth.
