Copperberry

This colossal fruit tree grows up to 59 feet (18.0 meters) tall and lives for up to 20 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 47 years old. It is not very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a wide, wavy trunk covered in hard, wrinkled, dark green bark, and inside, the medium-dense wood is copper-coloured.

The excessive amount of branches trail down towards the ground and are covered with small amounts of huge, thin leaves with serrated edges. The leaves themselves are beige on the edges and light grey at the center.

In early spring, it produces a thick sheet of medium-sized, faded red blossoms with 3 shield-shaped shaped petals. They fall easily and have a strong scent that smells like new carpet.

In late autumn it produces , broad, flat fruit. The clammy dark brown skin is tough and salty, and the soft cream flesh is savoury and dry. The slate seed is small and sits at the top of the fruit.

The roots are thick and spread across the surface, as well as underground, and overall the tree is sturdy, flexible, and difficult to uproot or break.

Forests of this species feature well-spaced trees, with grassy ground between them.
