Goldenberry

This large fruit tree grows up to 30 feet (9.1 meters) tall and lives for up to 20 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 60 years old. It is very resistant to destructive insect infestation but susceptible to disease.

It has a long and flexible, angular trunk covered in thick, rough, black with white speckled bark, and inside, the hard wood is white.

The numerous branches are short stubs and are covered with small bunches of miniature, thick leaves with jagged edges. The leaves themselves are solid gold with caramel streaks.

In early spring, it produces large amounts of medium-sized, silver blossoms with oblong petals. They fall easily and have a scent that varies in strength that smells like meat.

In early summer it produces , long, tapering fruit. The rough indigo skin is delicate and edible when roasted; it is very salty, and the crunchy cream flesh is sweet and very dry. The grey seed is small and sits at the top of the fruit.

The roots are thick and spread across the surface, as well as underground, and overall the tree is rigid and brittle.

Forests of this species feature well-spaced trees, with patches of undergrowth between them.
