Bluebell

Shrub type: Coniferous (Stores water in the thickened base of its stem)

This big shrub grows up to 7 feet (2.1 meters) tall and lives for around 52 years. It is very susceptible to disease and insect infestation.

It has dozens of sturdy, straight stems covered in cracked, dark green bark, and the wood inside is black with white speckles.

The branches are long and thick with hundreds of twigs that and are covered with large amounts of small, 2 pointed, leaves with toothed edges. The leaves themselves are a shade of orange-yellow that gradient shifts to yellow at the top, light and crispy.

In mid-spring it produces copious amounts of medium-sized, brilliant blue blossoms with oblong petals. They are sturdy and have an intense scent that smells like rainy days.

In early autumn small spherical fruits ripen. The sticky violet skin is thin and inedible, and the very soft cream flesh is bitter and juicy. The orange seed is tiny and is in the centre of the fruit.

It has impressive regenerative properties.
It out-competes most other plants for nutrients and light.
The grains are bitter, but very healthy and are suitable for boiling.
It is suitable for creating strong, durable textiles
