Burgundy Leaf Shrub

This small shrub grows up to 1 foot (30.5 cm) tall and lives for decades, with the oldest known specimen being around 166 years old. It is very susceptible to disease and insect infestation.

It has numerous wide, straight stems covered in thin, knobbly, burgundy bark, and the wood inside is pale brown.

The branches trail down across the ground with dozens of twigs that and are covered with sparse amounts of large, sickle shaped, leaves with tattered edges. The leaves themselves are light yellow on the sides and purple at the center, resistant and waxy.

It produces several medium-sized, yellow flowers with spear shaped petals with a trumpet-shaped floral cup. They are very delicate and have a soft scent that smells like mint. In early winter it forms largeyellow seed pods.
