Bloodvine

Shrub type: Deciduous (Grows upwards by clinging to almost any surface.)

This average-sized shrub grows up to 2 feet (61.0 cm) tall and lives for around 74 years. It is susceptible to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has numerous flexible, angular stems covered in fine, wrinkled, brown bark, and the wood inside is pine-coloured.

The branches trail down to the ground with dozens of twigs that and are covered with sparse amounts of small, broad, flat, leaves with ripped edges. The leaves themselves are white on the sides and black at the center, hardy and crispy.

In early spring it produces hundreds of tiny, blood red blossoms with 4 umbrella-shaped shaped petals. They detach easily and have a delicate scent that smells like warm cookies.

In midwinter large oblong fruits ripen. The fuzzy green skin is tough and extremely salty, and the slightly crunchy white flesh is savoury and sticky. The dark grey seeds are small and are scattered throughout the fruit.

It only grows on the most fertile lands.
It has impressive regenerative properties.
It is suitable for creating tough, hard-wearing textiles
