Clinging Peachvine

This modest-sized shrub grows up to 3 feet (91.4 cm) tall and lives for around 42 years. It is very resistant to destructive insect infestation but susceptible to disease.

It has dozens of narrow, wonky stems covered in very thick, silky, brown bark, and the wood inside is copper-coloured.

The branches trail down towards the ground with thousands of twigs that and are covered with small bunches of small, wide, leaves with irregular edges. The leaves themselves are generally bronze, hardy and sticky.

In late summer it produces many medium-sized, peach blossoms with finger-like petals. They are hardy and have an intense scent that smells like faeces.

In mid-autumn long, tapering fruits ripen. The sticky peach skin is peel-able and inedible, and the very soft light grey flesh is sweet and spicy and sticky. The caramel seeds are large and are bunched at the top of the fruit.
