Goldenfruit

This small fruit tree grows up to 9 feet (2.7 meters) tall and lives for up to 20 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 35 years old. It is very resistant to destructive insect infestation but susceptible to disease.

It has a slender, straight trunk covered in delicate, cracked, yellow bark, and inside, the flexible wood is gray.

The abundance of branches are very long and thin and are covered with large amounts of miniature, spear shaped leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are grey and vibrant yellow.

In early spring, it produces balls of large, gold blossoms with slender, pointed petals. They detach easily and have a delicate scent that smells like vanilla.

In mid-summer it produces tiny, spherical fruit. The crispy copper skin is tough and edible when cooked; it is sweet, and the soft slate flesh is savoury and very dry. The silver seed is tiny and is in the centre of the fruit.

The roots are thick and spread across the surface, as well as underground, and overall the tree is rigid and brittle.

Forests of this species feature well-spaced trees, with the space between filled with undergrowth.
