Copperfruit

Fruit Tree type: Coniferous (Sheds its leaves in winter)

This big fruit tree grows up to 27 feet (8.2 meters) tall and lives for up to 35 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 55 years old. It is susceptible to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a narrow, slanted trunk covered in very thick, smooth, copper-coloured bark, and inside, the very light wood is yellow.

The sparse amount of branches trail down towards the ground and are covered with sparse amounts of tiny, long, narrow leaves with serrated edges. The leaves themselves are beige and brown.

In early spring, it produces thick bunches of medium-sized, amber blossoms with 8 teardrop-shaped shaped petals. They are very delicate and have an overpowering scent that smells like musk.

In mid-summer it produces small, oval fruit. The fuzzy grey skin is stretchy and inedible, and the very soft aquamarine flesh is sweet and juicy. The grey seed is large and sits at the top of the fruit.

The roots are long and grow straight down, and overall the tree is rigid and brittle.

Forests of this species feature trees spaced far apart, with clear space between them.

It is suitable for making baskets and the like
It can survive a very long time without water.
