Burgundy Moss

Moss type: Moss

This burgundy moss is commonly found growing in large clumps On rotten logs, In heathlands, and In moorlands.
It is small, growing up to 3 inches (8 cm) tall. It forms in extensive patches and they are slow to spread and grow, and is slightly delicate.
When mature, emerald oblong capsules grow at the end of short, lime green sporophytes, eventually opening up during the mid-summer to release millions of spores; it does not cause any allergic reactions.


It is suitable for creating strong, durable textiles
Their seeds have hallucinogenic properties.
It is often home to a particular bird species.
