Silverberry

This short fruit tree grows up to 8 feet (2.4 meters) tall and lives for up to 20 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 36 years old. It is very resistant to destructive insect infestation but susceptible to disease.

It has a long and flexible, slanted trunk covered in fine, cracked, silver bark, and inside, the flexible wood is light brown.

The small handful of branches are short stubs and are covered with thick bunches of tiny, fan-like leaves with wavy edges. The leaves themselves are found in florescent red, aquamarine and light grey varieties.

In early spring, it produces a handful of tiny, blood red blossoms with shield-shaped shaped petals. They fall easily and have a faint scent that smells like citrus.

In early autumn it produces , broad, flat fruit. The fuzzy brown skin is delicate and sweet, and the crunchy blue flesh is sour and sticky. The black seeds are large and are located in the centre of the fruit.

The roots are shallow and widely spread, and overall the tree is sturdy and difficult to uproot.

Forests of this species feature trees spaced far apart, with the space between them filled with thick undergrowth.
