Shrub type: Deciduous (Grows along the ground or other low surfaces.)

This average-sized shrub grows up to 3 feet (91.4 cm) tall and lives for decades, with the oldest known specimen being around 111 years old. It is very resistant to disease but is susceptible to destructive insect infestation.

It has dozens of stocky, crooked stems covered in delicate, waxy, light brown bark, and the wood inside is burgundy.

The branches are short, rigid and upright with dozens of twigs that and are covered with large amounts of tiny, wispy, leaves with ripped edges. The leaves themselves are washed-out orange and sky blue, light and sticky.

In early spring it produces clusters of small, bronze blossoms with asymmetrical petals with a bell-shaped floral cup. They are very delicate and have a powerful scent that smells like leather.

In late autumn tiny 7 pointed fruits ripen. The clammy vivid purple skin is thick and inedible, and the soft cyan flesh is savoury and sticky. The vibrant yellow seed is large and sits at the top of the fruit.
