Caramelberry

This large fruit tree grows up to 40 feet (12.2 meters) tall and lives for up to 15 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 22 years old. It is very susceptible to disease and insect infestation.

It has a very thick, straight trunk covered in ridged, light brown bark, and inside, the medium-dense wood is pine-coloured.

The excessive amount of branches are long, thin and wispy and are covered with small bunches of small, stiff, pointed leaves with wavy edges. The leaves themselves are caramel with deep yellow tips.

In early spring, it produces hundreds of medium-sized, copper blossoms with perforated petals with a tube-like floral cup. They are very delicate and have a strong scent that smells like rich perfume.

In late autumn it produces , asymmetrical fruit. The leathery bronze skin is thick and savoury, and the crunchy cyan flesh is sweet and sticky. The olive seed is small and is in the centre of the fruit.

The roots are shallow and widely spread, and overall the tree is rigid and weak, and breaks apart easily.

Forests of this species feature trees spaced far apart, with clear space between them.
