Copper? Tree

This small fruit tree grows up to 7 feet (2.1 meters) tall and lives for up to 35 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 37 years old. It is very resistant to disease but is susceptible to destructive insect infestation.

It has a narrow, slanted trunk covered in paper-thin, ridged, pine-coloured bark, and inside, the very hard wood is copper-coloured.

The branches are short stubs and are covered with copious amounts of giant, very narrow and elongated leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are silver on the edges and orange at the center.

In early spring, it produces bunches of small, lilac blossoms with kidney-shaped shaped petals. They are very delicate and have an intensely strong scent that smells like bonfire smoke.

In early autumn it produces , oval fruit. The waxy light orange skin is tough and edible when cooked; it is sweet and bitter, and the very soft bright yellow flesh is bitter and powdery. The brown seed is small and sits at the top of the fruit.

The roots are shallow and widely spread, and overall the tree is rigid and brittle.

Forests of this species feature well-spaced trees, with grassy ground between them.
