Copperberry

This large fruit tree grows up to 33 feet (10.1 meters) tall and lives for up to 30 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 39 years old. It is very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a stocky, slanted trunk covered in thin, knobbly, brown and grey bark, and inside, the very hard wood is copper-coloured.

The numerous branches are long and thick and are covered with large amounts of huge, asymmetrical leaves with wavy edges. The leaves themselves are gray with copper tips.

In early spring, it produces dozens of small, gold blossoms with kidney-shaped shaped petals. They detach easily and have no scent.

In late autumn it produces small, 7 pointed fruit. The waxy pastel red skin is peel-able and inedible, and the soft red flesh is salty and powdery. The lime seed is small and is in the centre of the fruit.

The roots form a tightly packed ball, and overall the tree is rigid and brittle.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together densely, with the space between filled with undergrowth.
