Tree type: Coniferous (Stores water in the thickened base of its stem)This small tree grows up to 6 meters (19.7 feet) tall and lives for decades, with the oldest known specimen being around 151 years old. It is very resistant to disease but is susceptible to destructive insect infestation.
It has a thick, twisting trunk covered in very thick, rough, dark brown bark, and inside, the light wood is yellow.
The extensive patches of branches are very long, thin and wispy, with hundreds of twigs covered with large amounts of tiny, yellow-green needles. The needles themselves are sturdy.
In late summer it produces large, caramel seed pods.
The roots form a tightly packed ball, and overall the tree is rigid and brittle.
Forests of this species feature well-spaced trees, with grassy ground between them.
It is suitable for making baskets and the like
It only grows on the most fertile lands.
