Azureberry

This short fruit tree grows up to 6 feet (1.8 meters) tall and lives for up to 15 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 34 years old. It is somewhat resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a sturdy, crooked trunk covered in waxy, light brown bark, and inside, the very light wood is pale brown-grey.

The small handful of branches are very short and thick and are covered with small amounts of large, very narrow and elongated leaves with tattered edges. The leaves themselves are either vivid blue, or light grey with azure zig-zags.

In early spring, it produces clusters of large, cyan blossoms with 4 flame-shaped shaped petals. They are sturdy and have a strong scent that smells like fermented fruit.

In mid-summer it produces tiny, perforated fruit. The smooth blood red skin is stretchy and sour, and the crunchy light grey flesh is sweet and juicy. The muted red seeds are large and are dotted around on the skin of the fruit.

The roots spread far and go deep underground, and overall the tree is rigid and weak, and breaks apart easily.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together, with the space between filled with undergrowth.
