Shrub type: Deciduous (Stores water in the thickened base of its stem)This modest-sized shrub grows up to 3 feet (91.4 cm) tall and lives for decades, with the oldest known specimen being around 122 years old. It is very resistant to destructive insect infestation but susceptible to disease.
It has numerous very thick, straight stems covered in fine, waxy, copper-coloured bark, and the wood inside is brown.
The branches are long and slender with dozens of twigs that and are covered with handfuls of giant, needle-like, leaves with toothed edges. The leaves themselves are found in white and aquamarine varieties, strong and leathery.
In mid-spring it produces thick bunches of tiny, yellow flowers with spear shaped petals with a trumpet-shaped floral cup. They detach easily and have a faint scent that smells like new books.
The trunk and branches are covered in large spikes.
It is suitable for creating strong, durable textiles
It only grows on the most fertile lands.
