Crimson Silver Moss

This red and silver moss is commonly found blanketing small areas In damp forests, In bogs, and In marshes.
It is short, growing up to 2 inches (5 cm) tall. It forms in small clumps and they overwhelm an area rapidly, and is very rigid; it dislikes being stepped on.
When mature, emerald crescent-shaped capsules grow at the end of long, lime green sporophytes, eventually opening up during the early autumn to release hundred of spores.
