Flower type: Biennial (Stores water in its stem)This short flower grows up to 4 inches (10 cm) tall. Its silver stems grow in bunches of 5 and are thick and straight, and the large, yellow leaves are light lime green on the underside and are asymmetrical with rounded edges. Many leaves grow along the entire length of the stem.
6 to 11 large flowers grow on alternate sides up the length of the stem. The flowers are 16 cm (6.3 inches) wide, with alternating petals of magenta and crimson, with a violet central disk. The flower head is an uncoordinated mess of 32 curved petals. They fall easily.
It has a soft scent that smells like cinnamon, and it has very little pollen; it does not cause any allergic reactions. It is pollinated by insects and is particularly attractive to a specific species.
It is suitable for use as a construction material
The entire flower is edible and slightly sweet.
