Fruit Tree type: Coniferous (Stores water in the thickened base of its stem)

This big fruit tree grows up to 42 feet (12.8 meters) tall and lives for up to 35 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 47 years old. It is not very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a branched, straight trunk covered in cracked, yellow-brown bark, and inside, the light wood is yellow.

The excessive amount of branches are short, rigid and upright and are covered with small amounts of tiny, circular leaves with wavy edges. The leaves themselves are blue and magenta.

In early spring, it produces lots of tiny, bronze blossoms with long, narrow petals with a tube-like floral cup. They are hardy and have a faint scent that smells like rainy days.

In mid-autumn it produces , wide fruit. The fuzzy azure skin is thin and edible when boiled; it is savoury, and the crunchy brown flesh is sweet and very dry. The bold orange seed is very large and sits at the top of the fruit.

The roots are thick and spread across the surface, as well as underground, and overall the tree is rigid and weak, and breaks apart easily.

Forests of this species feature trees spaced far apart, with the space between them filled with thick undergrowth.

Several parts of the fruit tree have medicinal properties.
It is said to be able to live for hundreds of years.
It is suitable for making baskets and the like
