This pink-red moss is commonly found blanketing medium-sized areas In rainy mountain ranges.
It is average-sized, growing up to 4 inches (10 cm) tall. It forms in large clumps, and is very tough.
When mature, emerald kidney-shaped capsules grow at the end of elongated, lime green sporophytes, eventually opening up during the late autumn to release dozens of spores; it does not cause any allergic reactions.
