Copperfruit Tree

This small fruit tree grows up to 7 feet (2.1 meters) tall and lives for up to 15 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 24 years old. It is not very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a wide, slanted trunk covered in waxy, copper-coloured bark, and inside, the medium-dense wood is pale brown-grey.

The tangled mess of branches trail down across the ground and are covered with handfuls of large, very thin leaves with irregular edges. The leaves themselves are found in red, blood red and white varieties.

In early spring, it produces thousands of medium-sized, cream blossoms with kidney-shaped shaped petals. They fall easily and have a scent whose strength depends on external factors, such as soil quality and rain frequency that smells like leather.

In mid-autumn it produces small, triangular fruit. The smooth hazel skin is thin and inedible, and the soft deep orange flesh is spicy and very dry. The orange seeds are tiny and are scattered throughout the fruit.

The roots spread far and go deep underground, and overall the tree is sturdy, flexible, and difficult to uproot or break.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together, with clear space between them.
