Copperfern

Shrub type: Deciduous (Grows upwards by clinging to almost any surface.)

This large shrub grows up to 6 feet (1.8 meters) tall and lives for decades, with the oldest known specimen being around 140 years old. It is very resistant to destructive insect infestation but susceptible to disease.

It has many very thick, slanted stems covered in ridged, silver bark, and the wood inside is dark brown.

The branches are short, rigid and upright with thousands of twigs that and are covered with large amounts of miniature, wispy, leaves with wavy edges. The leaves themselves are found in bold orange and red varieties, frail and leathery.

It produces copious amounts of giant, grey flowers with slender, pointed petals. They fall easily and have a faint scent that smells like cotton. In early winter it forms tinybronze, spiky-shelled seeds.


It is suitable for use as a construction material
It can survive a very long time without water.
