Burgundy Tree

Tree type: Deciduous (Stores water in the thickened base of its stem)

This small tree grows up to 3 meters (9.8 feet) tall and lives for centuries, with the oldest known specimen being around 241 years old. It is very resistant to disease but is susceptible to destructive insect infestation.

It has a thick, curved trunk covered in fine, rough, brown-green bark, and inside, the flexible wood is black.

The sparse amount of branches are short stubs and are covered with thick bunches of clammy, huge, very thick leaves with tattered edges. The leaves themselves are a shade of burgundy that gradient shifts to orange at the top.

In late summer it forms large, olive, winged seeds that spin and fall nearby.

The roots are long and grow straight down, and overall the tree is rigid and brittle.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together, with grassy ground between them.

It is suitable for making baskets and the like
It comes in 20 varieties, each with a different leaf colour.
Ivy often grows along the trunk.
