Bronzeberry

Fruit Tree type: Coniferous (Stores water in the thickened base of its stem)

This modest-sized fruit tree grows up to 11 feet (3.4 meters) tall and lives for up to 25 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 65 years old. It is very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a stocky, straight trunk covered in paper-thin, knobbly, light brown bark, and inside, the light wood is light brown.

The small handful of branches trail down across the ground and are covered with copious amounts of large, stiff, pointed leaves with toothed edges. The leaves themselves are orange and light brown.

In early spring, it produces large amounts of small, bronze blossoms with circular petals. They detach easily and have a weak scent that smells like a woman.

In late autumn it produces , long, curved fruit. The smooth pink skin is tough and inedible, and the very soft brown flesh is sour and very dry. The beige seeds are small and are located in the centre of the fruit.

The roots are thick and spread across the surface, as well as underground, and overall the tree is sturdy and rigid.

Forests of this species feature well-spaced trees, with the space between filled with undergrowth.

It is almost impossible to grow from cuttings.
