Eternal Spruce

This small tree grows up to 5 meters (16.4 feet) tall and lives "forever", with many known specimens being tens of thousands of years old. It is very resistant to disease but is susceptible to destructive insect infestation.

It has a flexible, straight trunk covered in hard, knobbly, white with black speckled bark, and inside, the hard wood is burgundy-brown.

The branches trail down to the ground, with dozens of twigs covered with thick bunches of tiny, yellow or gold needles. The needles themselves are robust.

In late summer it produces small, orange, winged seeds that spin and fall nearby.

The roots spread far and go deep underground, and overall the tree is sturdy and rigid.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together, with clear space between them.
