Brown Moss

This brown moss is commonly found growing in medium-sized clumps In moorlands, and On rotten logs.
It is huge, growing up to 1.3 feet (41 cm) tall. It forms in extensive patches and they overwhelm an area rapidly, and is very resilient.
When mature, emerald spiral capsules grow at the end of elongated, lime green sporophytes, eventually opening up during the mid-summer to release dozens of spores; it can cause allergic reactions.
