Caramel

Succulent type: Leaf succulent (Stores water in its leaves)

This giant leaf succulent grows up to 122 feet (37.2 meters) tall. The wide stem is red, and is covered in brittle muted orange spines. The stumpy leaves are beige on the edges and caramel at the center. Small bunches of them grow on very thick, caramel and cream branches that are short, rigid and upright. The leaves are resistant, and are very difficult to pull away.

It is fast growing, taking 10 months to reach maturity. Once mature, and only under the right conditions, a handful of flowers, with alternating petals of deep orange and deep orange, with a gold central disk, grow at the top, reappearing after 8 years, but only when the conditions are right again. The flower head is largely flat with 30 tightly layered round-tipped petals. It has a delicate scent that smells like meat.

The leaf succulent's skin is very thick, the brilliant blue flesh is slimy, and the sky blue sap is thin.

It is difficult to kill and will quickly regrow if cut.

It usually houses a colony of beneficial insects.
