Burgundy Spike Moss

This burgundy moss is commonly found blanketing large areas In rainforests, On rotten logs, and In heathlands.
It is average-sized, growing up to 6 inches (15 cm) tall. It forms in large clumps and they are slow to spread and grow, and is very resistant.
When mature, emerald oblong capsules grow at the end of elongated, lime green sporophytes, eventually opening up during the late summer to release dozens of spores; it can cause severe allergic reactions.
