Clinging Redbell

This giant flower grows up to 9.8 feet (3.0 meters) tall. Its red stem is very thin, and the tiny, pink leaves are sickle shaped with toothed edges. The leaves alternate on the stem from the base up to about halfway.

Two giant flowers sit at the end of each stem. The flowers are 39 cm (15.4 inches) wide, with petals that are yellow in the center, red in the middle and gentle green at the edges. The flower head is made up of handfuls of petals; the lower layer of petals are flat, while the upper layers form a tight tube. They are hardy.

It has a delicate scent that smells like rich perfume, and it has a fair amount of pollen; it can cause severe allergic reactions. It is pollinated by a small species of bird, but is also visited by a variety of insects.
