Burgundy Spikegrass

Grass type: Perennial (Stores water in its leaves)

This small, burgundy grass grows up to 1 foot (30.5 cm) tall. The long, tapering stalks grow in thin clumps that are resistant and they are exceptionally hardy.

When mature, the end of the stem eventually transforms into a tiny, muted orange tuft.

During the mid-autumn, it produces an average amount of pollen, and after flowering, it is left with copious amounts of large grains.


It is suitable for making strong rope
The sap is edible and slightly bitter.
