Blue Moon Caudex

This average-sized caudiciform grows up to 70 feet (21.3 meters) tall. The fan-like stem is sky blue, and is dotted with small white spines. The very thick, slate trunk can grow to as much as 70 feet (21.3 meters) in diameter. Its green branches are long and thin.

The smooth-edged, fan-like leaves are found in turquoise, peach and faded blue varieties. They are light, and take some effort to detach.

It is steady-growing, taking 10 months to reach maturity. Once mature, and only under the right conditions, several flowers with light purple petals and a yellow center grow at the top, reappearing after 3 years, but only when the conditions are right again. The flower head is shaped like a cup with 12 tightly layered, narrow petals. It has a strong scent that smells like cinnamon.

The caudiciform's skin is extremely thick, the faded green flesh is smooth, and the indigo sap is thin.
