Copperbrush

This small shrub grows up to 1 foot (30.5 cm) tall and lives for decades, with the oldest known specimen being around 158 years old. It is very susceptible to disease and insect infestation.

It has several very thick, angular stems covered in hard, cracked, dark gray bark, and the wood inside is pale yellow.

The branches are very short and thin with hundreds of twigs that and are covered with sparse amounts of huge, stiff, pointed, leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are solid light brown with copper streaks, strong and rough.

It produces handfuls of small, violet flowers with needle-like petals with a bell-shaped floral cup. They fall easily and have an intense scent that smells like skunk spray. In early autumn it forms tinycopper berries.
