Conifera Cordata

Shrub type: Coniferous (Stores water in the thickened base of its stem)

This modest-sized shrub grows up to 3 feet (91.4 cm) tall and lives for decades, with the oldest known specimen being around 145 years old. It is very susceptible to disease and insect infestation.

It has several knobbly, angular stems covered in paper-thin, rough, yellow bark, and the wood inside is burgundy.

The branches are long, thin and wispy with hundreds of twigs that and are covered with sparse amounts of large, thin, leaves with toothed edges. The leaves themselves are hazel with subtle purple tips, hardy and leathery.

It produces several small, crimson flowers with many layers of petals with a trumpet-shaped floral cup. They are sturdy and have a faint scent that smells like perfume. In mid-autumn it forms giantcaramel, spiky-shelled seeds.
