Copperleaf

This average-sized shrub grows up to 4 feet (1.2 meters) tall and lives for around 96 years. It is not very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has dozens of very thick, straight stems covered in cracked, copper-coloured bark, and the wood inside is burgundy.

The branches trail down across the ground with dozens of twigs that and are covered with copious amounts of large, very narrow and elongated, leaves with irregular edges. The leaves themselves are either light brown, or beige with florescent yellow zig-zags, flimsy and sticky.

In late spring it produces hundreds of small, bronze blossoms with sickle shaped petals. They are hardy and have a delicate scent that smells like citrus.

In mid-autumn small needle-like fruits ripen. The waxy subtle blue skin is delicate and inedible, and the slightly crunchy beige flesh is salty and very juicy. The beige seed is very large and sits at the top of the fruit.
