Coilvine

Fruit Tree type: Deciduous (Grows upwards by winding itself around other objects and plants.)

This enormous fruit tree grows up to 50 feet (15.2 meters) tall and lives for up to 20 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 31 years old. It is very resistant to destructive insect infestation but susceptible to disease.

It has a wide, straight trunk covered in very thick, knobbly, silver bark, and inside, the very hard wood is white.

The small handful of branches trail down towards the ground and are covered with large amounts of small, wispy leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are solid olive or lilac, with indigo dots.

In early spring, it produces copious amounts of giant, green blossoms with triangular shaped petals. They are very delicate and have a delicate scent that smells like fish.

In early summer it produces , triangular fruit. The leathery pale red skin is thin and edible when roasted; it is sweet, and the slightly crunchy turquoise flesh is sour and syrupy. The grey seeds are large and are located in the centre of the fruit.

The roots grow as a near perfect mirror of the tree above, and overall the tree is sturdy and difficult to uproot.

Forests of this species feature trees spaced far apart, with the space between them filled with thick undergrowth.

It is suitable for creating flexible, durable textiles
