Aquafruit Tree

This small fruit tree grows up to 6 feet (1.8 meters) tall and lives for up to 20 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 41 years old. It is very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a branched, twisting trunk covered in delicate, smooth, white with black speckled bark, and inside, the very light wood is pine-coloured.

The excessive amount of branches trail down to the ground and are covered with small amounts of tiny, broad, flat leaves with toothed edges. The leaves themselves are lime on the edges and aquamarine at the center.

In early spring, it produces a thick sheet of small, violet blossoms with 9 pointed petals with a bell-shaped floral cup. They fall easily and have a strong scent that smells like onion.

In mid-autumn it produces small, finger-like fruit. The clammy grey skin is stretchy and overwhelmingly sweet, and the soft indigo flesh is spicy and salty and juicy. The gold seeds are tiny and are located in the centre of the fruit.

The roots spread far and go deep underground, and overall the tree is sturdy and difficult to uproot.

Forests of this species feature well-spaced trees, with the space between them filled with thick undergrowth.
