Twistvine Tree

This modest-sized fruit tree grows up to 19 feet (5.8 meters) tall and lives for up to 10 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 26 years old. It is not very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a long and flexible, twisting trunk covered in cracked, mahogany-coloured bark, and inside, the very hard wood is gray.

The branches are tall, rigid and upright and are covered with handfuls of large, stiff, pointed leaves with ripped edges. The leaves themselves are a shade of brown that gradient shifts to green at the top.

In early spring, it produces several large, blood red blossoms with fan-like petals. They are sturdy and have the faintest scent that smells like sweat.

In early autumn it produces , 7 pointed fruit. The fuzzy yellow skin is thin and inedible, and the crunchy green flesh is salty and very dry. The beige seeds are large and are dotted around on the skin of the fruit.

The roots are shallow and grow straight down, and overall the tree is sturdy and rigid.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together, with the space between filled with undergrowth.
