Clinging Indigo Bush

Shrub type: Deciduous (Grows upwards by clinging to almost any surface.)

This short shrub grows up to 1 foot (30.5 cm) tall and lives for decades, with the oldest known specimen being around 168 years old. It is very susceptible to disease and insect infestation.

It has numerous slender, wavy stems covered in rough, burgundy and brown bark, and the wood inside is white.

The branches are short and slender with dozens of twigs that and are covered with very large amounts of small, finger-like, leaves with rounded edges. The leaves themselves are solid indigo with bright red dots, flimsy and sticky.

It produces copious amounts of small, olive flowers with many layers of petals with a bell-shaped floral cup. They are sturdy and have an overpowering scent that smells like grass cuttings. In late spring it forms medium-sizedblack, winged seeds that spin and fall nearby.

It is difficult to kill and will quickly regrow if it falls or if its limbs are knocked off.
