Burgundy Spireactus

Succulent type: Stem succulent (Stores water in its stem)

This modest-sized cactus grows up to 40 feet (12.2 meters) tall. It splits partway up the body to form 5 perforated stems. Each stem is pink-red, and is dotted with small dark brown spines. The wedge-shaped body is burgundy, and is covered in hundreds of rigid hazel spines.

It is steady-growing, taking 22 months to reach maturity. Once mature, and only under the right conditions, several flowers with dull red petals and a yellow center grow at the top, reappearing after 3 years, but only when the conditions are right again. The flower head is an uncoordinated mess of 40 petals. It has a weak scent that smells like rich perfume.

The cactus's skin is thin, the dark grey flesh is smooth, and the violet sap is thin.

It is suitable for creating strong, durable textiles
It absorbs an exceptionally large amount of water each day.
It only grows on the most fertile lands.
